Wood Deck Stain Color(s) and Materials

Homeowners have been using the Sherwin Williams brand of Cedar Tone Natural Color 101 stain, which has a similar name to the APPROVED TWP (Total Wood Protection) Cedar Tone Natural Color stain that is noted in our rules.

Sherwin Williams on Michigan avenue and others have also been substituting their brand, in place of the APPROVED TWP Cedar Tone Natural Color stain noted in our rules.  They tell you that there is no difference in the colors, which is not true.  Using the Sherwin Williams brand has caused many deck colors to have the appearance of an orange or yellow colors.

Also, unbeknownst to the owner, Restore-A-Deck has been using the Sherwin Williams brand, rather than the APPROVED TWP brand of Cedar Tone Natural Color.  Management has advised  Restore-A-Deck that we only accept the TWP stain in the approved color; and if they do not comply with our rules, we will not allow them to work in our complex.

Also, any repair of wood decking, railing, and/or steps must be done by using only Cedar Wood.

The owner must take full responsibility to ensure that the correct products and materials are used.  An Alt/Mod form should be filled out in order to ensure the Board of Directors that you are aware of the products and materials being used by your contractor.

The APPROVED TWP stain is available by the gallon at the TheStainDepot.com for pick up or delivery.  The Stain Depot is located 20 minutes away, in the rear of the Supreme Deck Building, on 6 mile in Livonia. You cannot drive to the building to place your order.  An order must be made on-line or by telephone.  Please reference the business cards below
